Files that have helped me

The following files have helped me in getting the USB ports to work with my computer.   I have had only positive feedback from others that have used the same files.   The following caveat must be noted:

Before even downloading these files, please make sure that you are using Windows 95 OSR2 a, or higher, but not Windows 98.  To make this determination:

1. You need to open up you System Properties.

1. To open the System Properties go to à Settings à Control Panel.

2. Look for the icon called System. Double Click.
   
   

2. Look on the General tab under System:.  You must have at the very least 4.00.950 a.  If you do not have a letter after the 950, then you have one of the earlier versions of Windows 95 that do not support USB.  The only work-around for you, unfortunately is to purchase Windows 98…sorry,  unless of course you have a friend that can "loan" you their copy. (Don't let Bill know I said to try this).

Go to my Windows 95 Files page for the necessary USB files.   The following file I used for me to get my UMAX 1220U scanner working.  It is a file that is specific to a UMAX 1220U, do not download unless you have this scanner.  This file would be needed if you have gotten any errors about a VMM32 error, or something along those lines when rebooting your computer.   I did not get this error, but instead I got an error while trying the Scanner Test that gave a 0000000h error.  Once I installed this file the error went away.
